APITech Introduces New Multipath Emulator for Wi-Fi 6E Performance Testing

APITech, a leading provider of high-performance RF and microwave signal conditioning, and electromagnetic spectrum management solutions, has launched the Weinschel brand Wi-Fi 6E Multipath Emulator, an integrated programmable subsystem that enables to test the functionality of Wi-Fi devices in a true multipath environment.

Prakash Hari, Product Line Director with APITech, said that the new Wi-Fi 6E multipath emulator is ideal for MU-MIMO conductive testing. Conductive testing is cost-effective and offers a controlled and highly repeatable test environment.

Wi-Fi 6E is optimized for the newest generation of wireless devices and promises over 1 Gbps speeds. Device makers and service providers seeking to leverage Wi-Fi 6E require effective, repeatable test solutions. APITech’s Hari said that “the goal with the multipath emulator and all our wireless test solutions is to ensure that wireless devices and networks work first time, every time, and our customers’ products are launched on-time and on-budget.”

The multipath emulator is designed to create the conditions described by the TGn-B channel model, as detailed in IEEE 802.11-03/940r1. Two clusters are produced, spaced from one another by 20 ns of delay, each cluster produces a series of taps, which decay exponentially. The system includes 4 individual channels with a bypass switch in each one, allowing the user to bypass the multipath simulator, creating the conditions described in the TGn-A channel model. Additionally, the system includes a programmable phase shifter, allowing the user to precisely tune the frequency response.

APITech’s Multipath Emulator was co-created in partnership with a leading Wi-Fi chipset manufacturer to enable full functional verification and throughput testing in a MU-MIMO test environment. It delivers accuracy and repeatability of the Wi-Fi channel models and is packed with several powerful features including best in class low-latency and low insertion loss.
