Application Board 3.0 and companion IDE software allow plug-and-play evaluation of the full range of Bosch Sensortec sensors. The sensors are mounted on tiny, identically sized shuttle boards, which are plugged into a socket on the Application Board, while software automatically detects the type of sensor plugged in and starts the corresponding software application.
Jumpstarting development of applications for Industry 4.0, IoT, smart home systems, and wearables, Application Board 3.0 provides a simplified GUI to evaluate and tune sensor parameters, as well as visualize and record sensor data. Full-speed micro-USB 2.0 connectivity and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) allow logged sensor data to be transferred to a host, such as a PC.
The board employs the u-blox NINA-B302 BLE module based on the nRF52840 chipset from Nordic Semiconductor, including an Arm Cortex-M4F CPU. To aid customization, the board packs 256 kbytes of RAM, 1 Mbyte of internal flash memory, and 2 Gbytes of external flash memory for data logging. It is certified and compliant with multiple directives for different international regions, including CE, RoHS, China RoHS, FCC, IC, VCCI, SRRC and NCC.
Application Board 3.0 is just 47×37×7 mm and is powered by a 3.7-V Li-ion battery or a standard 5-V USB power supply. Shuttle boards are available for accelerometers, magnetometers, inertial measurement units, and environmental sensors for pressure, humidity, and gas.
