Wireless tester targets 5G small cells

The R&S CMP200 radio communications tester offers a new option for small cell testing, which has been validated by Qualcomm. It is also supported by the Qualcomm Development Acceleration Resource Toolkit (QDART) for Small Cells. Manufacturers of small cell infrastructure equipment operating in the mmWave range (FR2) that employ Qualcomm’s FSM100 5G RAN platform can tap the CMP200 to perform all hardware development and production test requirements.

The CMP200 is a non-signaling tester for 5G mmWave RF parametric testing. As an IF tester, it combines the functions of a vector signal analyzer and ARB-based generator. By connecting up to three CMPHEAD30 remote radio heads to the CMP200 for up and down conversion of signals to 5G FR2 frequencies, the instrument enables the testing of fully assembled FR2 devices and RFICs with both IF and mmWave RF interfaces.

Intended for R&D and production environments, the CMP200 is optimized for user equipment testing and has been validated by Qualcomm accordingly. With the added functionality for small cell testing and support by QDART for Small Cells, R&S claims the CMP200 platform offers a future-proof investment for OEMs.
