Formerly known as Ubisoft Uplay, Ubisoft Connect is here to bring about various noteworthy changes and improvements over its predecessor.
The replacement for Uplay and Ubisoft Club
The new service provides everything that Uplay used to. You can check out the latest gaming news, purchase new Ubisoft titles, download them to your computer and thoroughly organize them, and keep track of your stats and records.
All of this while still being able to keep in touch with your friends and compare your best performances.
Marketed as “the ecosystem of players services of Ubisoft games across all platforms,” the new and improved Ubisoft Connect brings forth a lot of welcome and important changes.
Ubisoft Connect – the next step towards unity
Probably the most exciting novelty is the implementation of cross-play and cross-progression. What this means is that now you can effortlessly carry over your progress between multiple platforms.
This means that you can now play some Ubisoft games on your PC and the rest on your console (or your mobile device) and still have all the benefits (all your progression is saved within the app).
This also means that you’ll be able to connect with players from all platforms for all your games a lot easier, hence the community is bound to expand.
As nice as this seems, it’s also worth noting that buying a game on a platform doesn’t necessarily mean that the purchase will net you the same game across all your gaming devices.
Another great piece of news is the fact that your Ubisoft Club currency will make the transition into this new environment, even though there’s a chance that not all the existing games will. A full list of compatible games making the transition is available on Ubisoft’s Support section.
The list includes various popular titles such as Watch Dogs Legion, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Immortals Fenyx Rising, Riders Republic, and Hyper Scape. According to Ubisoft, most of the popular multiplayer titles will eventually find their way onto the new platform.
A giant leap forward
Ubisoft Connect is a welcomed step in the right direction for the gaming company.
It provides its users with the same intuitive functions, the same social support, most of the same options for organizing one’s gaming library, and access to all the latest titles in the shop just like Uplay used to.
However, more importantly, it takes a giant leap forward when it comes to player interconnectivity. Players can now play the same titles on multiple platforms (desktop, console, and mobile) and keep their progression levels up to date.
