Image sensors shrink size and power

Architected for low power consumption, Hyperlux LP image sensors from onsemi can extend battery life in products like smart doorbells and security cameras. In addition, a stacked architecture minimizes sensor footprint, with the smallest device approaching the size of a grain of rice.

The 1.4-µm pixel sensors capture crisp and vibrant images, even in difficult lighting situations. They operate in either linear or enhanced dynamic range (eDR) modes with a rolling−shutter readout. The devices also provide enhanced NIR response in the 850-nm and 940-nm wavelengths.

The Hyperlux LP lineup of CMOS digital image sensors includes the 5-Mpixel AR0544, 8-Mpixel AR0830, and 20-Mpixel AR2020. Functions like Wake on Motion and SmartROI enable tradeoffs between bandwidth and power. For example, Wake on Motion allows the sensor to operate in a low-power mode that draws a fraction of the power needed in full-performance mode. SmartROI provides more than one region of interest (ROI) to give a context view of the scene at reduced bandwidth and a separate ROI in original detail.

Hyperlux LP image sensors will be available in the fourth quarter of 2023.
