Signal-conditioner ICs join PCIe 5.0 ecosystem

PCIe 5.0 retimers and redrivers from Phison provide signal enhancement for PCIe-deployed devices like NAND flash, FPGA, ASIC, and other accelerator technologies. They are part of Phison’s portfolio of PCIe 5.0 storage and signal conditioning products intended to meet the demands of data-intensive AI/ML, edge computing, and high-performance computing.

The PS7201 and PS7202 CXL 2.0-compatible retimers provide an equalization boost range of up to 42 dB, latency of 5 ns, and integrated AC coupling capacitors. Occupying industry-standard retimer footprints, the devices offer hot-plug and bifurcation support, as well as protocol awareness to accommodate various system configurations.

Certified by PCI-SIG, the PS7102 8-channel redriver and PS7103 16-lane redriver provide an equalization range of up to 28.5 dB and latency of 70 ps, as well as CXL 2.0 compatibility. Redrivers also work with PHiTune auto-tuning software.

When paired with Phison’s E26 PCIe 5.0 SSD, PHiTune enables the redrivers to automatically detect recovery counts. The software then uses artificial intelligence to determine the optimal gain parameters to be stored in the redriver’s onboard nonvolatile memory. This tool enables R&D engineers to collect signal data and conduct signal optimization to find the best parameters for the corresponding environment.
