Download Bazarr

Even if English is their native language, some people prefer watching movies and TV shows with subtitles on. Not only do they improve clarity and comprehension, but they can be quite useful in a noisy environment as well. The only problem is that sometimes you need to put in some effort to find the right ones for your media files.

Bazarr is a companion app for Sonarr and Radarr and can lend a hand with grabbing and managing subtitles you need for your favorite shows.

Similarly to Sonarr, the tool does need a little bit of effort to install and configure. If you are having troubles, then don’t hesitate to check out the installation guide on the home page to learn more. Fortunately, you only need to deal with setup and configuration once, as after that the tool can pick up all the new media files added automatically.

Following the installation, the tool scans your existing media library to identify local subtitles and compare them with external sources. Needless to say that the tool will automatically download any missing files without you doing anything. You can check out the history of the subtitles grabbed or updated in the History section.

In case the tool didn’t find or updated the subtitles for a media file you are planing to watch, then keep in mind that you can use the manual search to find it.

You will be happy to learn that the program includes a plethora of sources for subtitles, including popular platforms such as Subscene, OpenSubtitles.org or YIFI Subtitles. Moreover, there is a wide range of subtitle languages, currently numbering 184, with options for forced and foreign subtitles depending on the available providers.

In the eventuality that you are using Sonarr or Radarr as your main media server and would like to have more control over the subtitles, then perhaps you can consider giving Bazarr a try.
