Samsung Selects Anritsu's Wireless Test Set to Evaluate NTN NB-IoT Functions in Galaxy S25 Smartphone

Samsung Electronics has selected the Universal Wireless Test Set – MT8870A from Anritsu for use on the mass-production lines of the Galaxy S25, Samsung Electronics’ next-generation smartphone that is compliant with the Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) NB-IoT standard. Smartphones supporting NTN NB-IoT can communicate through NTN using satellites, Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), and so forth. This makes reliable communication services possible in areas where terrestrial networks are unavailable, including mountainous areas and areas without a wireless communication infrastructure. For the Galaxy S25, the flagship model of Samsung Electronics’ MX division, the MT8870A provides a Tx/Rx performance test environment for wireless communications standards, including NTN NB-IoT.

The MT8870A operates from 10 MHz to 6 GHz. It has 160 MHz measurement bandwidth for WLAN 802.11ac and supports multiple wireless standards including LTE, TD-SCDMA, GNSS, ZigBee and Bluetooth. In addition to NTN NB-IoT, the MT8870A also supports 5G NR sub-6 GHz and Bluetooth, making it an ideal tester for use with devices that must support these standards.

Anritsu will continue to provide test solutions for mass-produced NTN-compliant devices, contributing to greater test efficiency and space savings in mass-production lines.
