VIAVI to Showcase Cutting-Edge Telecom Innovations at MWC Barcelona 2025

VIAVI Solutions, a leader in network test, monitoring, and assurance solutions, is set to highlight groundbreaking advancements in telecommunications at MWC Barcelona 2025 (March 3-6). Partnering with over 20 industry leaders, VIAVI will showcase its expertise across 5G, 6G, Open RAN, AI-driven RAN (AI-RAN), and Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN), demonstrating the power of ecosystem collaboration in shaping the next era of connectivity.

As telecom networks grow increasingly open and complex, seamless collaboration between network vendors, service providers, academic institutions, and infrastructure providers is more critical than ever. VIAVI is at the forefront of this transformation, working with leading names such as Samsung, NVIDIA, Infosys, Qualcomm Technologies, Nokia Bell Labs, and King’s College London to develop and validate next-generation network architectures.

“To monetize their investments, operators must optimize and secure increasingly complex networks integrating 6G, AI, and the cloud,” said Sameh Yamany, Chief Technology Officer at VIAVI. “Building these networks requires a community of trusted vendors. The partnerships and standards being developed today will play a key role in ensuring their success.”

Breakthrough Innovations on Display

At MWC Barcelona 2025, VIAVI will host demonstrations both at its own booth (Hall 5, Stand 5A18) and at partner booths across the event. The company’s key areas of focus include:

AI-RAN: Leveraging Artificial Intelligence for Next-Gen RAN

VIAVI is collaborating with Samsung and NVIDIA to explore AI/ML-driven advancements in Radio Access Networks (RAN). Samsung will showcase AI-powered modulation techniques to enhance signal performance, while VIAVI will introduce neuromorphic receivers designed to optimize energy efficiency and AI-based modulations. NVIDIA will highlight its high-performance accelerated computing GPUs, driving enhanced training and validation for AI-driven networks.

Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) and Yonsei University will also present their deep reinforcement learning (DRL) model, designed to mitigate interference in dense urban deployments. Using the VIAVI TeraVM AI RAN Scenario Generator (AI RSG), this innovation enables real-time beam optimization, improving signal performance while conserving energy.

6G: Pushing the Boundaries of Next-Generation Networks

VIAVI’s 6G collaborations will feature ASTAR Institute for Infocomm Research (ASTAR I2R), King’s College London, Nokia Bell Labs, and Qualcomm Technologies.

A*STAR I2R and VIAVI will demonstrate AI/ML-driven 6G beam management for centimeter-wave frequencies, enhancing network efficiency while reducing power consumption. Meanwhile, King’s College London, Nokia Bell Labs, and VIAVI will unveil a goal-oriented, semantic communication framework designed to enable wireless eXtended Reality (XR) applications—a significant step toward metaverse-ready wireless experiences.

Digital Twin for Integrated Sensing and Communication

VIAVI, in partnership with Qualcomm Technologies, will introduce a real-time, AI-driven digital twin of Qualcomm’s San Diego campus. This demonstration will illustrate how radio-frequency (RF) emulation can enhance network sensing and beam selection, reducing energy consumption while optimizing wireless network performance.

Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN): Enabling Global Connectivity

As satellite-based communications continue to grow, VIAVI will showcase its NTN advancements with partners including Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), KT, and Rohde & Schwarz. These demonstrations will explore full HD video transmission over NTN, advanced NTN testbed capabilities, and RF emulation for satellite communication networks.

Open RAN: Driving Interoperability and Security

VIAVI remains a driving force in Open RAN testing and implementation, with live demonstrations alongside CableLabs, Calnex Solutions, Digital Catapult, Ericsson, Mavenir, Pegatron 5G, Quanta Cloud Technology (QCT), Radisys, Rohde & Schwarz, StarHub, SUTD, Synergy Design Technology, and VVDN Technologies.

Key highlights include:

  1. Ericsson’s Intelligent Automation Platform (EIAP), featuring VIAVI’s rApps portfolio for optimizing antenna performance and network efficiency.
  2. Pegatron 5G and Radisys, demonstrating low-latency Open RAN communication, validated by the VIAVI TM500 O-RU Tester.
  3. Quanta Cloud Technology (QCT) and SUTD, showcasing an AI-powered energy-saving system for Open RAN networks.
  4. Rohde & Schwarz and VIAVI, unveiling an O-RU testbed supporting massive MIMO and multi-user beamforming with advanced UE emulation.

Additionally, VIAVI will participate in panel discussions and live demonstrations throughout MWC, reinforcing its commitment to accelerating Open RAN adoption and ensuring seamless multi-vendor interoperability.
