Silicon Labs, a global leader in secure and intelligent wireless technology, has officially launched the MG26 family of wireless SoCs, now generally available through Silicon Labs and its distribution partners. Designed to push the boundaries of Matter and concurrent multiprotocol solutions, the MG26 SoC delivers double the Flash and RAM of previous Silicon Labs devices, along with enhanced AI/ML processing and best-in-class security to help developers create future-proof smart home applications.
The MG26 SoC is built for Matter-enabled smart home devices, such as smart lighting, switches, and sensors. It supports simultaneous Zigbee and Matter over Thread communication, ensuring seamless integration across different IoT ecosystems.
Jacob Alamat, Senior Vice President of Silicon Labs’ Home and Life Business Unit, emphasized the significance of this release, stating: “With MG26, we’re not just setting a new standard in multiprotocol wireless performance for battery-powered smart home applications—we’re redefining what’s possible for IoT connectivity. This device empowers developers to create smarter, safer, and more powerful solutions in an increasingly connected world.”
AI/ML Acceleration & Next-Level Performance
The MG26 SoC features a multicore architecture, including an ARM® Cortex®-M33 CPU and dedicated cores for radio and security subsystems, optimizing power efficiency for complex applications. It also introduces embedded AI/ML acceleration, delivering up to 8x faster processing while consuming significantly less power.
Developers can take advantage of Silicon Labs’ AI/ML Developer Journey, a streamlined platform that simplifies building and deploying machine learning models for IoT applications, including predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, and vision-based recognition.
Unmatched Security & Customization for Matter Devices
As the only Matter SoC provider offering customizable device attestation certificates (DAC) through its Custom Part Manufacturing Service (CPMS), Silicon Labs enables faster and more secure product launches while preventing IP theft and counterfeiting. The MG26 SoC also includes Silicon Labs Secure Vault™ and ARM TrustZone, ensuring compliance with Matter security standards and safeguarding against vulnerabilities.
Industry Recognition & Expanding the Matter Ecosystem
Since its initial debut in 2024, the MG26 SoC has gained global recognition, winning awards such as Embedded Computing Design’s Best in Show Award, IoT Evolution World’s 2024 Product of the Year, and the AspenCore World Electronics Achievement Award.
As a leading semiconductor code contributor to Matter, Silicon Labs continues to drive innovation in secure, high-performance, and energy-efficient IoT connectivity. The Matter ecosystem is expected to expand significantly, and companies like Austrian smart lock manufacturer Nuki are already integrating Silicon Labs’ solutions into their next-generation devices.
“Silicon Labs’ Matter-ready SoCs enable us to bring super compact, battery-driven devices with parallel support for multiple communication protocols to the market,” said Jürgen Pansy, Co-founder and Chief Innovation Officer of Nuki. “Our award-winning Smart Lock, built on Silicon Labs hardware, supports Matter via Thread while maximizing energy efficiency and design flexibility.”
