Forefront RF, a fabless semiconductor company, has opened a new subsidiary office in Helvoirt, near Eindhoven, the Netherlands. Forefront RF has developed breakthrough tunable duplexer technology that empowers OEMs to reduce the component count in smartphones, smartwatches and other mobile devices. This expansion marks a significant milestone in the company’s journey from an early-stage startup to an emerging powerhouse in RF technology. The move follows the successful closure of its Series A funding round in Q4 2024, further solidifying Forefront RF’s ambitious growth plans.
Why the Netherlands? A Thriving Semiconductor Hub
The Netherlands has long been a key player in the global semiconductor industry, with Dutch microelectronics companies contributing approximately 9% of the global market share. Its world-class transport infrastructure—encompassing the ports of Rotterdam and Amsterdam, as well as Schiphol Airport—ensures seamless connectivity for high-value goods across Europe and beyond. Additionally, the country’s international outlook and highly skilled talent pool make it an ideal base for Forefront RF’s expansion.
Ronald Wilting, CEO of Forefront RF, emphasized the significance of this move, stating: “This expansion cements our commitment to driving innovation, including unlocking software-defined radio architectures that redefine the capabilities of mobile communication radio front ends. The Netherlands offers an exceptional business environment, bolstered by multilateral agreements and access to world-class talent.”
With its new office in the Netherlands, Forefront RF aims to accelerate product rollouts, enhance customer support, and tap into Europe’s semiconductor expertise. This step is crucial as the company gears up for the 2026 launch of its first-generation product, the FFM51010, designed for the cellular-enabled smartwatch market.
