Qamcom has Developed a New Anechoic Chamber for EMC Testing, Antenna Evaluation, and Radar Applications

Qamcom, a knowledge-based research and technology consulting company based in Sweden, has developed the Iron EMC Chamber — an advanced anechoic lab designed for high-performance radio, EMC testing, antenna evaluation, radar measurement and calibration. The new facility provides accurate testing, fast certification and expert troubleshooting for both in-house and customer projects. Qamcom’s Iron Chamber will also be made available for hire for RF test and measurement together with an expert Qamcom engineer.

Speed, efficiency and cost-efficiency – combined with Qamcom’s highly skilled and experienced team – makes the offer unique, setting the Iron Chamber apart from other players in the field.

The new EMC Chamber provides a fully interference-free space for signal calibration and verification, from compliance testing to advanced R&D, delivering test results with fast, highly reliable and uncompromising results. Qamcom specialists will offer fully customized test plans based on bespoke specifications, expert execution, detailed data analysis, troubleshooting and design optimization.

“An anechoic chamber is a specially designed test room used in research, product development and scientific experiments built to completely absorb electromagnetic waves –   preventing echoes, external noise and interference,” confirmed Erik Gustafson, Certification Domain Responsible at Qamcom. “The walls, ceiling and floor are lined with RF-absorbing materials to eliminate reflections, creating a test environment developed for speed and efficiency.”

“Our facility will lower testing costs, accelerate certification, optimize product development and provide faster time to market for Qamcom’s in-house and customer projects. With the Iron Chamber, we are able to offer a full room for testing, up to 90 GHz that can be extended to 170 GHz.”

Qamcom will offer chamber rental for customers with expertise, including full access to state-of-the-art testing facilities, and on-site technical support for setup and troubleshooting. The chamber will serve a wide range of industries performing critical application tests and certifications including telecom, IT, space, military, MedTech, agriculture and food, automotive, broadcasting, radar technologies transportation, vehicle and robotics.

Simon Olvhammar, senior specialist, RF and antennas at Qamcom, said, “Using the new EMC chamber will not only enable us to perform standardized tests on customer products with greater accuracy, but also provide support in troubleshooting, detecting and resolving issues, all at a faster pace than relying on an external lab. Backed by Qamcom’s highly experienced EMC and radio lab engineers, with the new test chamber offering we can improve customer efficiency translating to competitive edge and market success.”
