MilliBox, the leader in compact benchtop mmWave anechoic chambers and antenna positioners, showcased its latest innovations at the 2025 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium (IMS 2025) in San Francisco, CA, from June 17-19, 2025.
MilliBox demonstrated the usage of MBX32R with fixed, moving, and simulated radar targets, illustrating practical radar performance testing scenarios. This setup consists of an MBX32 compact benchtop anechoic chamber with WLL09 instrumented wall, GIM04H-300X, 3 Axis antenna positioner, LIN04 programmable linear actuator, and Eravant STR-793-12-D1 77GHz radar target simulator. This demonstration highlights the versatility and modularity of MilliBox Radar Test Systems for everyday radar characterization and tuning in the mmWave and sub-THz domain.
Radar Target Simulator or RTS electronically transforms the incoming radar signal such that the resulting echo appears like a virtual moving object. This technique is widely used for radar characterization. MilliBox integrates this with its MBX32R anechoic test system featuring a 3-axis radar positioner. This way, the Doppler capability of the radar under test is evaluated at every angle in space such that impairments like signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), sensitivity, and blind spots can be uncovered easily.
“Nowadays, mmWave and sub-THz radars have integrated phased arrays, so getting a clear 3D view of the radar detection capabilities is fundamental for performance evaluation. Using MilliBox MBX32R with RTS is an attractive solution to do this,” stated Jeanmarc Laurent, Vice President of MilliBox.
