Scientific Microwave Corporation (SMC) has introduced a WR90 multifunction magic tee filter assembly, revolutionizing high-power radar systems with its integrated design and exceptional performance. This innovative assembly is meticulously CNC precision-machined from a metallic plate and features a gold-plated cover with low loss across the 8.20-10.00 GHz frequency band (X-band).
This magic tee seamless integrates a magic tee, coupler, and harmonic filter into a single, compact unit. This design is specifically optimized for high-power radar applications, where efficient signal combining, precise imbalance measurement, and robust harmonic suppression are paramount.
The new assembly provides excellent electrical performance by delivering a deep matching level with an input return loss of 18 dB and an isolation level exceeding 20 dB across its entire operating band. The Crossguide coupler maintains a stable coupling response of 35 dB ± 1.0 dB and a directivity of over 15 dB over the operational bandwidth. The filter integrated into the coupled port effectively blocks second harmonics beyond 40 dB and third harmonics by an impressive 85 dB, ensuring signal purity with a 14 dB return loss on the secondary arm.
This magic tee filter assembly has an SMA (female) connector for the coupled port and WR90 waveguide interfaces for the input ports. Weighing in at a lightweight 0.5 kg and with a pressure rating of up to 30 psi, this durable assembly is designed for reliable operation in demanding environments. Its compact nature and robust construction make it an ideal solution for engineers seeking to enhance the efficiency and performance of their high-power radar systems.
