Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has strengthened its customer support capabilities across the EMEA region and globally with the establishment of an advanced electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) test laboratory in Nuremberg, Germany. This strategic expansion highlights Murata’s continued commitment to delivering comprehensive EMC solutions tailored to the needs of the rapidly evolving automotive industry.
The Nuremberg facility features a dedicated electromagnetic semi-anechoic chamber specifically designed for automotive applications. While not an internationally certified EMC test laboratory for commercial testing, its core function is to provide EMC noise suppression support directly to Murata’s customers by leveraging the company’s extensive portfolio of noise filters and decades of expertise. The lab is equipped to perform critical automotive tests, including radiated and conducted emission measurements in compliance with CISPR 25, as well as immunity testing (BCI/DPI) according to ISO 11452-4 and ISO 11452-7 standards.
Murata’s EMEA EMC Lab offers a comprehensive suite of support services, including:
- On-site support, where Murata’s EMC engineers and test equipment visit the customer or third-party labs.
- Off-site support, involving actual measurements on borrowed or purchased devices under test (DUTs) with real-time remote monitoring and simulation support based on customer requirements.
- In-lab customer visit, allowing direct collaboration for EMC noise suppression optimization.
These services are complemented by Murata’s advanced design support, combining state-of-the-art equipment, analytical expertise, and experienced engineers to ensure robust EMC performance from component to system level.
“The opening of our new EMC test lab in Nuremberg marks a pivotal moment for Murata, signifying our deepened commitment to supporting our customers, especially within the critical automotive sector,” said Daniel Lucas, Field Application Engineer at Murata Europe. “By leveraging advanced analysis techniques and integrating with our global network of EMC facilities, we are empowering our customers to accelerate product development, ensure robust compliance, and bring cutting-edge, reliable innovations to market faster.”
The Nuremberg facility integrates seamlessly with Murata’s global network of EMC laboratories, including those in Japan (Kyoto, Yokohama), China (Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen), Taiwan, and the United States (San Jose). This global infrastructure, supported by vehicle measurement equipment, enables Murata to evaluate noise sources and propose optimal EMC solutions across diverse automotive environments worldwide.
