
Z-Communications, Inc., a leading provider of high-performance RF and microwave solutions, has introduced the SSG4522ALX, a compact dual-wideband smart frequency synthesizer that operates from 45 MHz to 22.6 GHz with 0.1 Hz resolution. The SSG4522ALX has several unique features such as dual frequency outputs, amplified main output with 18 dBm power output typ , power attenuation from 3 to 24 dB, 3 frequency sweep modes – single sweep, repeat sweep(continuous), and cycle sweep, each with frequency start/stop, step size and dwell time.
The synthesizer includes a built-in internal 100 MHz reference, allowing immediate operation right out of the box. Users who prefer their own timing source can alternatively connect a 100 MHz external reference. This SSG model also provides dedicated SMA connectors for Lock Detect, Mute, and Psync, offering added flexibility for system integration.
The SSG4522ALX is powered with 5 VDC through either USB-C or SMA. Control of all functions are made with a convenient smartphone app using Bluetooth (iOS and Android), or through a Windows PC via the USB-C power port. Each unit may be uniquely named using either interface, with all settings displayed on screen. A series of LEDs provide a visual cue of functions such as power, lock indication, and Bluetooth connection. For advanced users planning to use the SSG4522ALX Smart Synthesizer in automated test set ups with LabVIEW or other programs, advanced commands through UART is provided.
The SSG4522ALX delivers high precision and stability for radar, SATCOM, defense, test instrumentation, and field signal-generation applications. Measuring only 4.25 × 2.25 × 0.5 inches, the synthesizer combines wide frequency agility with space-efficient design, making it suitable for both portable and lab-grade systems.
The Z-COMM SSG series of Smart Phase Locked Loop (PLL) modules provide high performance in a compact, all metal package suitable for any number of applications. Fully programmable through a unique Bluetooth interface, or USB cable, the user may adjust functions such as frequency, sweep mode, dwell time, step size, and power output, among others. LED indicators provide a visual cue of the status of the various functions. It’s rugged enclosure lends itself to in-field use as well as benchtop testing. The highly reliable output signal, excellent phase noise, and flexibility of an internal reference or input for an external reference, provides RF engineers with an adaptable RF tool.
