Insight SiP Expands its Bluetooth Low Energy Module Portfolio to Address Diverse IoT Use Cases

Insight SIP has been seeing strong interest and demand for its recently launched ISP2454-LX BLE module, based on Nordic Semiconductor’s latest generation nRF54L15 Bluetooth Low Energy chip. As a result of customer feedback company is offering three variants to meet differing use case requirements.

All three variants are based on the same core nRF54L15 core radio and processor, and have the same integrated antenna offering class leading radio performance. All three variants are pin and footprint compatible, allowing manufacturers to easily build variant products with different characteristics. They are also pin compatible with previous generation ISP15/18/19 series BLE modules, thus providing customers with an easy upgrade path to enhance existing equipment to take advantage of the latest generation of Bluetooth technology. Details of the different variants and typical customer use cases are described below.

ISP2454-LL

This is the entry level model. It still offers a fully integrated ready to go module solution that requires no external components to provide a functioning radio connection over the air. However, the fine timing crystal (32 kHz) that optimizes power consumption is not included. It is therefore particularly suited to applications where there is no real limitation on the power supply (such as mains connected equipment), or where power consumption is dominated by other far more power hungry components than the BLE module, such as cellular radios or large processors.

ISP2454-LX

This is the BLE module variant currently in production. It is a fully integrated device with all power saving features included, including the 32 kHz timing crystal. It is suitable for a wide range of applications, offering state of the art performance in terms of processing, radio and low power consumption.

ISP2454-LP

This variant adds a large addition 4MB flash memory, providing additional storage. It is particular suited for customers with large and complex applications (such as Matter based solutions), which may take up the majority of the standard 1.5MB non-volatile memory. In such cases, the additional memory can be used to handle an over the air application update, with the possibility of rollback in case of problems with the update process. It also can be used for applications with a large local data storage requirement, for example when the BLE module has long intervals between data being transmitted onwards to the cloud or other systems.
