Quectel Showcases Automotive mmWave Radar and Digital Key Solutions at MWC 2026

Quectel Wireless Solutions, an end-to-end IoT solutions provider, is showcasing its latest automotive-grade mmWave radar solutions at Mobile World Congress Barcelona, highlighting developments in vehicle safety, convenience, and intelligent sensing. Visitors to MWC 2026 can experience live demonstrations of Quectel’s mmWave radar and digital key technologies, supporting the development of automotive sensing and connectivity applications.

At the event, Quectel is demonstrating two digital key applications alongside additional mmWave radar solutions, including tailgate kick-to-open, forward collision warning, and blind spot detection systems. A 5G telematics control unit (TCU) demonstration is also featured. Across its radar and digital key portfolio, the company emphasizes AEC-Q compliance, robust design, compact form factors, and flexible integration to support global OEM automotive programs.

“Showcasing our mmWave radar and digital key portfolio at MWC Barcelona demonstrates how Quectel is helping enable safer driving, smarter vehicle access, and more connected mobility experiences worldwide,” commented Min Wang, General Manager, Automotive Business Unit, Quectel Wireless Solutions. “Global OEMs are looking for solutions that combine precision sensing, secure connectivity, and automotive-grade reliability, and these demonstrations serve to underline Quectel’s commitment to the automotive sector.”

The low-cost, high-reliability 5G Release 16 solution from Harman International is designed to meet global automotive requirements, supporting VoLTE, VoNR, CS eCall, and NG-eCall for regional compliance. The platform provides multi-frequency GNSS and inertial navigation for positioning, along with low-power sleep and wake-up functions for remote access. It supports 5G SA/NSA networking and hypervisor and container-based software isolation and complies with IATF 16949 requirements.

The AP001 smart digital key is a standalone unit integrating Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technologies. It supports single-node and multi-node configurations and meets automotive-grade environmental, mechanical, ingress protection, and EMC standards. The solution supports BLE 6.0, dual-mode positioning via Channel Sounding and RSSI, and UWB Channel 5 and 9 using time-of-flight positioning.

The AP002 smart key solution is designed for NFC card-based vehicle access, enabling unlocking, locking, and engine start operations. It meets automotive environmental and EMC requirements and supports CCC Digital Key requirements, NFC Forum certification standards, ISO/IEC 14443-A and ISO/IEC 14443-B protocols, and multiple card types.

The AM100AA-AT Tailgate Kick-to-Open mmWave radar enables gesture-based trunk access through kick, step, and sweep motions. The system is designed for low false trigger rates and supports operation in varied weather conditions, including rain and debris. Quectel’s 77GHz Forward Collision Warning (FCW) radar supports both two-wheelers and four-wheelers, offering detection ranges exceeding 220 meters for passenger vehicles and simultaneous tracking of up to 40 dynamic targets. The radar supports Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).

The 77GHz Blind Spot Detection radar provides monitoring for passenger vehicles and two-wheelers, supporting Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Lane Change Warning (LCW), and Rear Collision Warning (RCW). Detection ranges extend from 0-100 meters for cars and 0-60 meters for two-wheelers, with tracking of up to 20 dynamic targets.
