“Xbox will be where the world plays”: Microsoft confirms Xbox is once again looking into acquisitions, huge manifesto for the future detailed

Two months after the new Xbox CEO Asha Sharma stepped up as Phil Spencer retired, she’s taken some time to reflect on the current state of Microsoft’s gaming brand alongside Xbox EVP and chief content officer Matt Booty while also detailing plans for the future. The memo they penned was first sent to Xbox staff globally, and has now been published publicly on Xbox Wire.

One huge piece of news from the letter is that Microsoft is dropping “Microsoft Gaming” completely, and is fully embracing the Xbox branding. Sharma and Booty say the old title “describes our structure but it does not describe our ambition,” so “we are going back to where we started.”
