Netflix’s Kevin Hart-led buddy comedy “72 Hours” became the latest No. 1 movie on the platform, which just goes to show that you can’t always trust Netflix’s ranking. It’s currently sitting at a 14% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, with audience reactions not quite as scathing but still lukewarm at 49%. I’m tired of pretending Kevin Hart is still funny, and that’s coming from someone who raved about his early stand-up comedy specials. His Napoleon complex schtick has gotten old, and if you ask me, there are much better comedies on Netflix that are worth you precious streaming time this weekend.
I’ve rounded up a few of my favorites below, including a girl failure comedy that I return to again and again when it’s just been one of them days, a new(ish) chaotic double act with John Cena and Eric André, and one of the most controversial buddy comedies to date that I still stand by, 20 years later.

‘One of Them Days’ (2025)
Keke Palmer and SZA’s girl failure buddy comedy “One of Them Days” is one of those movies I return to whenever I need a good laugh (one joke about a “tumble-weave” never fails to crack me up). Directed by Lawrence Lamont, it follows two broke besties, Dreux (Palmer) and Alyssa (SZA) who find themselves desperate for cash after Alyssa’s boyfriend Keshawn (Joshua Neal) runs off with their rent money.
With just hours to cough up with $1,500 before their landlord kicks them out, the two scramble to hit a lick by any means necessary — and manage to piss off a major gang banger in the process. Though “One of Them Days” has plenty of laughs, beneath the chaos and a great cameo by Katt Williams is a genuinely sweet story about the lengths we go to for family. Palmer and SZA are hilarious together, and if you’re into comedies with a lot of heart, this one’s worth adding to your watchlist. Plus it has a 94% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, which is a rare feat for a buddy comedy.

‘Little Brother’ (2026)
While it’s fallen from the Netflix Top 10 since its debut last month, I still laughed way harder at “Little Brother” than I did at “72 Hours,” so I opted to include it as a more recently released option to watch. If, like me, you’re a big fan of both “The Eric André Show” and John Cena’s unhinged straight man brand of humor (“Peacemaker” was one of my favorite shows last year), you should definitely check out Netflix’s buddy comedy “Little Brother.”
Cena stars as successful real estate agent Rudd, whose stable — if less-than-fulfilling — life is thrown into chaos when his former mentee Marcus (Eric André) crashes back into his orbit at the worst possible moment. A chaos magnet with a knack for turning every situation into a catastrophe, Marcus leaves Rudd scrambling to clean up the fallout his antics cause. “Little Brother” leans heavily into slapstick, with most of the humor coming from the clash between Cena’s perpetually exasperated straight-man performance with André’s off-the-wall energy.

‘White Chicks’ (2004)
Another excuse to write about “White Chicks”? Don’t mind if I do! Over 20 years after it hit theaters, “White Chicks” crept into the Netflix Top 10 earlier this month, which had me cackling and just goes to show how lackluster the streamer’s summer lineup has been so far. My friends and I were just talking about how “White Chicks” is one of those unapologetically dumb comedies we’ll defend forever, in the same vein as the original “Scary Movie” — which I still argue is the only good “Scary Movie.”
Directed by the undisputed best Wayans brother, “White Chicks” stars Shawn and Marlon Wayans as FBI agents Kevin and Marcus Copeland, whose careers are not long for this world after yet another botched assignment. With one final chance to prove themselves, they’re stuck babysitting wealthy socialites Brittany and Tiffany Wilson during a weekend in the Hamptons. To go undercover, the two Black agents disguise themselves as white women, resulting in one outrageous fish-out-of-water gag after another as well as an iconic serenade from Terry Crews.
