Apple is reportedly exploring a revamped smartwatch lineup with new designs, form factors, and even a screenless fitness tracker. The report adds that the company is also considering new budget-friendly smartwatch models beyond the existing Apple Watch SE lineup.
In the latest edition of his Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Apple’s industrial design team has spent the past year exploring a “broader rethink” of the Apple Watch lineup.
The first Apple Watch
According to the report, one of the devices under consideration is a screenless fitness tracker designed to compete with devices such as the Whoop and Google’s recently launched Fitbit Air.
Apple is also said to be evaluating smartwatches with different display types and new size options. A round Apple Watch has reportedly been explored as well, although Gurman says it is unlikely to make it to market.
The report adds that Apple is also considering expanding the Apple Watch lineup with new premium and budget-friendly models. Gurman further claims that the company could bring back a ceramic Apple Watch case later this year or sometime in 2027. New color options and bands are also in the pipeline.
