Anthropic’s Claude AI service is experiencing issues right now. A growing number of users are reporting problems accessing the platform. Reports of an outage have also surged on Downdetector and X.
It looks like the outage started around 12 AM ET on August 24, meaning it has been ongoing for over two hours as of writing this article.
Anthropic has acknowledged the problem on its status page, saying it has identified the cause of “elevated errors” affecting requests to multiple Claude models, including Claude Mythos 5, Claude Fable 5, and Claude Opus 5. The company says it is working on a fix.
The status page initially listed Claude Opus 4.8 as one of the affected models, before Anthropic updated the notice to say the problem affected multiple models. In its latest update, Anthropic said it is “continuing to work to resolve issues causing elevated requests on multiple models” and will provide another update as soon as possible.
