Highland Technology introduces the Model J736 high-voltage fiber-coupled optical-to-electrical converter.
Housed in a rugged compact extruded aluminum enclosure, the J736 performs low jitter high-voltage digital conversion of fast fiber-coupled optical signals from DC to greater than 15 MHz. Output amplitude is adjustable from 0.8 V to 20 V into high-impedance loads, and up to 10 V into 50-ohm loads. Output signals are clean over the full amplitude range, with rise and fall times typically 1 nanosecond and jitter below 10 picoseconds RMS. The analog optical-to-electrical input threshold and output voltage are set by trimpots, with test-points and calibrated analog optical-power monitoring provided for system diagnostics. Two versions are available, covering industry standard 850 nm, and 1310nm to 1550nm wavelengths for 62.5/125 um multi-mode and 9/125 um single-mode fiber. Optical input signals are accepted through a standard ST fiberoptic connector with electrical output signals conveyed through a gold-plated SMA jack.
The J736 features the T577 GaN output driver is ideal wherever stable, ultra-low high drive strength o/e conversion is required and is an excellent alternative to long lossy coaxial cable runs.
Common applications include:
- Digital communications systems
- PIN diode driver
- Isolated SiC mosfet gate driver
- Fiberoptic test and measurement applications
- Laser evaluation and qualification
- Photonics, research and development.
The J736 is compatible with the Highland Technology Model J720 and J724
e/o converters and the company’s other VME-packaged electrical/optical converter products.
