Samsung has long been working on smart glasses that can go toe-to-toe with Meta’s offerings. We got a taste of what to expect earlier this year, during the company’s summer Unpacked event. Similar to how Meta partnered with Ray-Ban, Samsung is teaming up with Warby Parker and Gentle Monster for the design. While there’s still more to learn about these smart glasses, FCC listings are providing some new information.
Spotted by Droid Life, Samsung’s intelligent eyewear has made a stop at the FCC (1, 2). The outlet found two listings in the database for two different styles of smart glasses. One is presumably for the pair from Warby Parker, and the other from Gentle Monster.
The documents reveal the model numbers SM-O200J and SM-O200P. It’s suspected that SM-O200J is the model from Gentle Monster, and SM-O200P is the design from Warby Parker. Both pairs of smart glasses are set to have multiple variants.
For SM-O200P, there will be four additional models: SM-O201P, SM-O202P, SM-O203P, and SM-O204P. Meanwhile, SM-O200J will have five variants: SM-O201J, SM-O202J, SM-O203J, SM-O204J, and SM-O205J.
Samsung is expected to launch its smart glasses later this year. However, it has yet to reveal the exact date for the launch. An appearance at the FCC suggests that an announcement may not be far off. There are also lingering questions about the price and availability.
