Apple is reportedly planning to launch a new slate of devices late in October, and this event will focus on Macs, it seems. Earlier today, Apple confirmed that a smart home-focused event is lined up for October 13, which leaves the doors open for another busy event where the company is expected to launch a highly anticipated MacBook Pro overhaul with the touch-sensitive OLED screen, a new iPad, and more computing gear.
“The product launch is scheduled on or around Tuesday, Oct. 27, according to people with knowledge of the matter. The end-of-month announcements will also include versions of the 14-inch MacBook Pro and iMac with M6 chips,” says the report.
A touch-screen MacBook Pro could headline the event
The upcoming MacBook overhaul will feature two models, and they will stand out courtesy of an OLED touchscreen that will reportedly feature a cutout in the screen, similar to the Face ID module on iPhones, and ditch the board-shaped notch. Apple has reportedly cut down the weight and waistline on these new MacBooks, as well, aside from equipping them with new M6 series silicon.

The updated entry-level MacBook Pro is also lined up for an M6 chip, alongside a refreshed iMac. Both these devices will look identical to their current iterations without any design changes. And finally, the iPad mini is also expected to get an OLED screen. The design will likely stay identical, but the camera orientation is apparently shifting from portrait to landscape orientation.
Apple has another event coming first
As far as the event on October 13 goes, Apple is expected to launch its long-awaited smart home hub device, which apparently resembles a small tablet that can also be mounted on a wall and comes attached to a speaker base linked with an arm. Other devices on the table include a smart doorbell, security cameras, and a thermostat, among others, developed in partnership with LG as well as Schneider.
