At EuMW 2026, everything RF met Brent Virtusio from Eravant, who walked us through the company’s latest millimeter-wave test and measurement solutions. European Microwave Week (EuMW) 2026 was held from 4-9 October at ExCeL London. It is Europe’s premier event for the RF, microwave, mmWave, and radar industry, bringing together the companies and technologies shaping the future of high-frequency engineering.
At its booth, Eravant showcased its ACCESS VNA frequency extenders, which enable measurements from millimeter-wave frequencies up to 330 GHz using conventional vector network analyzers, as well as its recently launched W-Band Precision Calorimetric Power Meter. The demonstrations highlighted solutions for engineers developing next-generation communications, radar, sensing, aerospace, defense, and semiconductor technologies.
ACCESS VNA Frequency Extenders
The demonstration at booth G25 featured Eravant’s STO-06203N05-CM-E2 ACCESS VNA Frequency Extender connected to Copper Mountain Technologies BFx-02 Frequency Extender Base. The system extends the measurement range of a VNA operating up to 20 GHz to cover frequencies from 110 to 170 GHz in the D-Band. Brent explained how the solution enables engineers to perform millimeter-wave measurements while continuing to use existing commercial VNA platforms.
The STO-06203N05-CM-E2 is a WR-06 D-Band Tx/Rx VNA frequency extender with an integrated attenuator and up to 100 dB of dynamic range. It is part of Eravant’s ACCESS family of frequency extenders, which are designed to extend the capabilities of conventional vector network analyzers into the millimeter-wave spectrum.
Eravant’s frequency extender portfolio spans a wide range of frequencies, from coaxial solutions operating between 20 and 55 GHz to J-Band (WR-3) extenders supporting measurements from 220 to 330 GHz. The extenders are compatible with VNAs from Copper Mountain Technologies, Rohde & Schwarz, Anritsu, and Keysight Technologies, providing flexibility when building high-frequency measurement systems. The company also demonstrated another set of frequency extenders connected to a Rohde & Schwarz VNA. Eravant maintains stock of selected V-, E-, and W-Band models, along with coaxial versions, targeting delivery lead times of approximately four weeks. W-Band Precision Calorimetric Power Meter
Eravant also demonstrated its recently launched STL-PM-753114-S1 Precision Calorimetric Power Meter. The live setup began with a 15 GHz signal generator feeding a ×6 frequency multiplier, generating a 90 GHz signal that was then measured by the power meter. The demonstration showed how engineers can directly measure RF power at millimeter-wave frequencies.
Designed for measurements from 67 to 116 GHz, the STL-PM-753114-S1 uses thermodynamic heat-substitution techniques to determine RF power. Unlike diode-based sensors, calorimetric power meters measure the heat generated when RF energy is absorbed, enabling true average power measurements with stable and repeatable performance.
The instrument combines a WR-10 calorimetric sensor, closed-loop thermal control, high-resolution digital processing, an integrated touchscreen interface, and USB remote-control capability, making it suitable for laboratory, production, calibration, and automated test applications. The power meter is part of Eravant’s new millimeter-wave and sub-THz power measurement portfolio, expanding the company’s test and measurement offering beyond signal generation and network analysis.
At the EuMW 2026 exhibition floor, Eravant showcased solutions that address two key challenges in high-frequency testing: extending vector network analysis into the millimeter-wave spectrum and accurately measuring power at W-Band frequencies. Its ACCESS frequency extenders enable measurements up to 330 GHz using commercial VNAs, while the STL-PM-753114-S1 provides a dedicated solution for precision millimeter-wave power measurements. Together, these products support the characterization and validation of next-generation RF, microwave, and mmWave systems.
European Microwave Week 2026 showcased the latest developments in wireless communications, aerospace and defense, radar, satellite technology, semiconductors, antennas, and test and measurement solutions. From advanced mmWave hardware to the instruments needed to characterize it, the event highlighted many of the innovations shaping the next generation of high-frequency systems.
