edge lab LIVE! will bring a new hands-on embedded, IoT and edge AI developer program to electronica 2026, taking place from November 10–13 in Hall C5 at Messe München in Munich, Germany. Organized by ThroughPut Marketing in partnership with Messe München, the event will combine practical workshops, technical sessions, live demonstrations and networking to help engineers move connected products from prototype through production and deployment.

The program is aimed at professional engineers, system architects, engineering managers and technical leaders working with embedded systems, wireless IoT devices and intelligence at the edge. Open-source software, open hardware standards and secure product development form its core, with sessions built around bringing up hardware, porting applications and deploying working systems.

A Workshop-Centric Approach to Embedded Development

The distinguishing feature of edge lab LIVE! is the opportunity to work directly with development hardware under the guidance of engineers and open-source practitioners. Workshops will sit alongside a three-day technical conference within the four-day event, allowing participants to explore implementation details and discuss integration challenges with technology suppliers and trainers.

The exhibition area will also emphasize functional, integrated systems presented within a connected edge architecture. This gives visitors a way to examine how computing platforms, software, connectivity and security fit together in practical applications. The program spans open-source software and hardware implementations for near-edge, far-edge and high-performance computing, covering different stages of embedded and IoT product development.

Wireless IoT, Connected Sensors and Edge AI

For RF and wireless engineers, the most directly relevant sessions connect radio-enabled devices with embedded software, sensing and security. On November 12, Deutsche Telekom and Exein are scheduled to lead a cellular IoT security workshop using an nRF9151 development kit and Exein Runtime for Zephyr. Participants will work through device setup, configuration and security options on real hardware.

On November 11, Avnet‘s Amazon Sidewalk workshop will demonstrate how sensor data can travel from embedded devices over a low-power wireless network to /IOTCONNECT for monitoring and visualization. The session combines wireless connectivity with motion and environmental sensing, showing the path from data collection at the device to cloud-based dashboards.

Renesas will also run a November 11 workshop on intelligent asset tracking. Its demonstration uses an accelerometer and Reality AI to identify movement events, including drops and shakes, and transmits classified events over Bluetooth Low Energy to the Hubble Network. The workshop links local AI processing with wireless reporting for monitoring how assets move and are handled.

Companies and Open-Source Communities Taking Part

The participating ecosystem brings together component suppliers, distributors, software developers and industry organizations. Avnet and Digi-Key are among the distributors involved, while NXP Semiconductors and Renesas contribute embedded processing and development platforms. NXP’s scheduled workshops include real-time control and sensing on its FRDM Automotive platform, along with edge AI development using i.MX applications processors.

Software participation includes LVGL, with a workshop on building embedded user interfaces, and Mender.io, with a session on deploying secure software updates across device fleets. PICMG and SGET bring open hardware standards expertise, while Zephyr Project and Yocto Project meetups on November 13 will provide opportunities to exchange embedded software development experience. The combination gives attendees access to both the hardware and the software communities involved in building connected products.

Security, Awards and Networking

CRA Day on November 12 will focus on practical engineering considerations associated with the European Cyber Resilience Act. Sessions will examine secure development, vulnerability management, software updates and the evidence required across the embedded product supply chain, with contributions from security specialists including Ygreky.

The wider program includes IoT Stars on November 10 and An Evening of Edge AI with Shawn Hymel on November 11. The current schedule places the electronica Edge Awards ceremony within the November 11 evening event. The awards recognize embedded, IoT and edge AI solutions, with evaluation covering factors such as performance, integration, reliability, scalability and cost/value.

Workshop Registration and Access

Individual workshop registrations start at €10, with reserved seating, expert instruction, take-home hardware and complimentary electronica admission offered according to the selected session. All-access options are also available. Visitors who already have electronica admission can attend sessions without paying a separate session fee, subject to space, but unregistered attendance does not include reserved seating, take-home workshop hardware or an electronica ticket. Evening events have separate registration conditions.
