Spectrum Control introduces the PulseShield™ Transportable HEMP Filter Series of compact, lightweight high-altitude electromagnetic pulse (HEMP) filters. The new filter family, which meets MIL-STD-188-125-1A (E1 and E2) requirements, is designed for rapid deployment and redeployment in existing or new platforms with its compact, modular design and standardized plug-and-play power interfaces.
PulseShield was developed to support today’s defense operations that depend on mobile, electronics-dense assets, including transportable shelters, tactical vehicles, mobile power systems and expeditionary command-and-control, operating in contested electromagnetic conditions. Exposure to HEMP or intentional electromagnetic interference (IEMI) can drive immediate loss of command, sensing, mobility and power at decisive moments.
PulseShield helps ensure mobile and deployable defense platforms maintain operation during and after electromagnetic transient events by serving as boundary protection against HEMP and IEMI at the power point-of-entry, aligning with how damaging energy couples into systems. By stopping conducted energy at the power and interface entry, such as generator output, shelter input or a vehicle DC bus feed, the transportable HEMP filters help prevent transients from propagating into mission electronics.
Committed to Protecting Mission Continuity
“This launch reflects our commitment to mission-driven design. PulseShield protects mission continuity for mobile platforms with compact, lightweight filters that are easy to install and maintain without compromising protection,” said Jennifer Harkless, product line director, Spectrum Control.
The PulseShield Transportable HEMP Filter Series is transparent in normal operation, rapidly diverts energy during a transient, and automatically resets afterward. They combine integrated common-mode and differential-mode EMI filtering with high-energy transient suppression in a single compact assembly optimized for transportable and mobile architectures. The series uses industry-standard IEC and NEMA power interfaces to support faster fielding and lifecycle flexibility while minimizing redesign for upgrades and retrofits.
