AntennaWare announced a partnership with Morse Micro. Morse Micro’s Wi-Fi HaLow technology delivers robust, secure, and energy-efficient wireless communication, enabling advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) 2.0 and grid-edge intelligence with superior penetration and extended range in the sub-1 GHz band.
Traditionally Wi-Fi HaLow enabled wireless devices are deployed using Monopole antennas to help achieve the vast distances required in industrial/construction, healthcare and smart agriculture. Aside from the aesthetics, the Monopoles are susceptible to damage thus causing downtime which can be mission ending for real-time data gathering.
AntennaWare with the Bodywave™ antenna, based on patented technology, improves link margins for on-metal and on-body use cases from 6 to 12 dB in non-line-of-sight (NLoS) and similar in performance in LoS. These gains result in a material increase in range and / or a significant reduction in power i.e. “Double the distance, half the power.” Using the low-profile Bodywave™ antennas for Wi-Fi HaLow applications users can still achieve the same coverage as a Monopole but not suffer the inconvenience of the obstructive and intrusive nature of the traditional solution.
AntennaWare’s CEO and co-founder Dr. Gareth Conway comments, “AntennaWare with our patented Bodywave™ antennas have proven the market needs in a number of frequencies with our low-profile solutions. This announcement with Morse Micro will help other companies improve their ergonomic design.”
