Wireless SoC from Silicon Labs Selected by Durin to Power Aliro-Ready Door Manager

Silicon Labs, a provider of low-power wireless connectivity solutions, announced that Durin, Inc. has selected the Silicon Labs MG24 wireless SoC as the secure, multiprotocol foundation for the Durin Door Manager, a next-generation access device supporting the newly released Aliro application layer from the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA).

Aliro is designed to deliver consistent and secure mobile access control across smartphones, wearables, smart locks, and readers, enabling trusted interoperability at the door. With Aliro’s formal release, Silicon Labs is supporting device manufacturers in transitioning from standards adoption to commercial deployment using a platform built for secure credential handling, flexible transport technologies, and low-power operation.

Durin Door Manager combines mobile access functionality with localized decision-making at the device level. Built around the MG24 SoC, the platform supports Aliro use cases, including NFC tap-to-unlock, ultra-wideband (UWB) interactions enabled by MK Semi, and Bluetooth® Low Energy (BLE) hands-free access workflows.

Aliro introduces requirements for secure credential processing and device-to-reader communications. In the Durin Door Manager, MG24 serves as the primary controller for Aliro and connected access workflows, integrating security functions and multiprotocol wireless connectivity within a power-efficient architecture.

Key capabilities enabled by the MG24 include:

  • Single-transaction Aliro credential validation over NFC: MG24 receives Aliro key data from an NFC transceiver reader IC and performs key validation and access document verification within a single NFC transaction.
  • Hardware-accelerated asymmetric cryptography: The integrated cryptographic accelerator executes Aliro elliptic-curve cryptography (ECC) operations, including Generate Key Pair, ECDSA Sign, ECDH, and ECDSA Verify, including step-up verification requirements.
  • Secure key storage with Silicon Labs Secure Vault: Sensitive credentials and key material are protected using Silicon Labs Secure Vault for device-level security.
  • Multi-protocol connectivity for modern access systems: MG24 supports Matter and Bluetooth communications to enable interoperability and flexible system integration.
  • BLE commissioning and lock control workflows: Bluetooth enables device commissioning, UWB ranging session initiation, and communication with paired locks for open and close control.
  • Hands-free control using UWB ranging: MG24 processes proximity data from a UWB radio IC and executes hands-free access decisions based on contextual inputs.

By combining secure credential processing, multiprotocol wireless connectivity, and low-power architecture, MG24 enables manufacturers to design Aliro-compliant smart locks while managing system complexity and cost.
