Skyworks Adds BAW Filters to its Portfolio for Wi-Fi and Automotive Applications

Skyworks has added bulk acoustic wave (BAW) filters to its portfolio, extending its range of filtering solutions for Wi-Fi and automotive connectivity applications across multiple frequency bands, including access points, routers, gateways, and vehicle systems. The portfolio includes multiple filter designs operating across the 5 GHz and 6-7 GHz bands, along with automotive-focused variants for Wi-Fi and V2X systems. These filters are offered in compact multi-chip module (MCM) packages and are designed to support system-in-package (SiP) modules for embedded systems.

The SKY85923-11 is a full-band filter operating from 5945 to 7125 MHz, designed for tri-band Wi-Fi access points, extenders, routers, and gateways, as well as system-in-package (SiP) modules. It provides low insertion loss, U-NII 5–8 passband coverage, and high rejection to LTE bands, 2.4 GHz, and U-NII 1–4 bands, with RF ports matched to 50 ohms in a 1.8 x 1.6 x 0.72 mm MCM package.

The SKY85922-11 supports 5 GHz U-NII 1–4 bands with a frequency range of 5170 to 5895 MHz. It is designed for similar Wi-Fi applications and provides low loss across the passband and high rejection to LTE, 2.4 GHz, and U-NII 5–8 bands. The device is packaged in a 1.8 x 1.6 x 0.70 mm MCM format.

The SKY85921-11 operates across 5945 to 7125 MHz and supports 6 to 7 GHz full-band Wi-Fi applications. It provides low insertion loss and high rejection to 2.4 GHz and U-NII 1–3 bands, using a compact 12-pin MCM package with RF ports matched to 50 ohms.

For automotive applications, the SKY5A1008 supports 6 GHz Wi-Fi operation from 5.945 to 7.125 GHz and is designed for Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 platforms, telematics, infotainment systems, and V2X radios. It provides low insertion loss, high out-of-band rejection, and 50 dB co-existence rejection to cellular, Bluetooth, and U-NII 1–3 bands. The device is housed in a 1.8 x 1.6 x 0.72 mm package.

The SKY5A1006 is an automotive-grade filter designed for 5 GHz Wi-Fi applications across 5.170 to 5.835 GHz. It supports U-NII 1–3 bands, providing low insertion loss and strong out-of-band rejection to reduce interference. The filter supports both transmit and receive paths and is packaged in a 1.8 x 1.6 x 0.7 mm format.

The SKY5A1005 is an automotive notch filter targeting the B47 V2X band from 5855 to 5925 MHz. It provides a minimum of 30 dB rejection while maintaining low insertion loss in the 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz Wi-Fi bands. The filter includes a 40 MHz transition band and supports operation across a wide temperature range.

All devices in the portfolio are designed for integration into compact modules, with defined RF input/output and ground pin configurations, and support compliance requirements including RoHS. The addition of BAW technology extends its in-house filtering capabilities across Wi-Fi and automotive connectivity applications.
