SAG Develops Embeddable RFID Tag for Industrial Asset Tracking in Harsh Environments

SAG has developed the CoreX – Armor UHF 1017, an embeddable RFID tag designed for use in environments where durability and compact size are critical. The tag incorporates chip and antenna protection, enabling it to withstand high temperatures and harsh operating conditions while maintaining reliable performance.

With experience in developing RFID tagging solutions, SAG focuses on addressing complex tagging requirements through integrated design and manufacturing capabilities. The Armor UHF 1017 reflects this approach, combining durability with a compact form factor suited for industrial applications that require item-level tracking and asset management.

Designed to tackle challenges related to miniaturization and robustness, the tag is suitable for sectors such as manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, and automotive. Its small size allows it to be embedded into a wide range of assets and components, supporting seamless integration across different use cases where accurate identification and tracking are required.

The CoreX – Armor UHF 1017 is equipped with an NXP UCODE 9xm chip, offering a total memory capacity of 880 bits, including EPC, user, and TID memory. This enables detailed data storage for tracking and identification purposes, while also supporting an extended read range for improved operational efficiency.

In terms of specifications, the tag measures 17 × 9.8 × 0.75 mm and is constructed using PCB material. It operates in the UHF frequency band and supports ISO/IEC 18000-63 and EPC Gen2v2 RF interface protocols. The device is designed to function across an operating and storage temperature range of −40°C to 120°C and is intended for use on free-space surfaces.
