Shut Up for Chrome – Download

YouTube comments are known to be vicious, but it’s certainly not the only website with that reputation. Sadly, unless they are well moderated, comments often end up being insulting, racist, or worse, and on many websites you won’t miss anything important by hiding them altogether.

Shut Up is a Chrome extension, also available for Firefox, that lets you do just that. It uses the shutup.css stylesheet, created by Steven Frank, to disable comments on almost any web page you visit, and it’s all done automatically.

Surf the web without unnecessary comments

While it’s understandable why many websites have comment sections – so visitors can chime in with their opinions – it’s usually not a big loss to disable them.

When you install the extension, it automatically disables comment sections on all supported websites. Now, of course, you may still want to see comments on certain pages, and you can enable them again by just clicking the extension’s icon.

Remembers where comments are allowed

If you find that a keyboard shortcut is handier than clicking the extension’s icon in the toolbar, all you have to do is press Ctrl+Shift+X. The hotkey is even customizable.

After turning the comments back on for a certain website, the extension will remember your preference for future visits; if you don’t want this, the feature can be disabled.

Just what you need if comments aren’t your thing

There really isn’t much else to say about Shut Up. If you don’t want to see comment sections on websites, go ahead and install it. It worked very well on every page we visited during our tests, and toggling the comments on and off is always instant.
