DreamCloud Classic vs Helix Midnight Luxe: Price & deals
- Both brands run regular sales, but Helix’s discounts are more varied
- DreamCloud provides a full year to trial its mattresses
- Helix offers upgraded features and optional white glove delivery
Timing is of the essence if you want the Helix Midnight Luxe at its lowest price. While we see Helix mattress sales year-round, discounts vary. The standard sale cuts 20% off the MSRP, but shop closer to a major holiday (like Memorial Day), and that jumps to 25% — or even 27%.
On the other hand, there’s a lot less urgency when it comes to buying the DreamCloud Classic. Rarely does the brand run a flash sale — and even when it does, it’s difficult to predict. The offer you’ll be seeing this Memorial Day is the evergreen DreamCloud mattress sale.
When it comes to pricing, these hybrids are on opposite sides of the cost spectrum. The Helix Midnight Luxe is a premium-priced mattress, with a queen usually on sale for $1,918 after 20% off. If you opt for the cooling upgrade or ErgoAlign layer, that can add up to another $374 to the price.
The DreamCloud Classic is a steady mid-range hybrid mattress, with a queen-size going for $649. There aren’t any upgrade options available, but you can add a bedding bundle for $159. However, we’ve seen this bundle included for free in the past, often accompanied by a small increase in the price.
Both brands offer free shipping, a lifetime warranty, and a risk-free sleep trial, but you’ll get 365 nights to try your DreamCloud versus 120 nights for the Helix.
Meanwhile, Helix has partnered with third-party logistics companies to offer white glove delivery with the removal of your current bed included. This elevated service costs extra, and availability varies by location. DreamCloud does not offer in-home delivery at this time.
DreamCloud Classic vs Helix Midnight Luxe: Comfort & performance
- The DreamCloud cushions the joints to prevent pressure buildup
- The Midnight Luxe is supportive for back sleepers, as well
- Both have excellent edge support but average motion isolation
- For cooler sleep, choose the Helix (especially with the upgrades)
The DreamCloud Classic is a 12-inch hybrid of individually wrapped springs and a pair of contouring foam layers. It’s capped by a CloudQuilt cover, designed to help the mattress wick away heat.
Our testers appreciated the DreamCloud’s medium firmness and cushioned surface. This design suited our side sleepers best, and our back sleepers were also well-aligned, but our stomach sleepers required more support for their midsections.
The DreamCloud performed best for pressure relief during our tests. It doesn’t contour quite like a memory foam mattress, but it does provide ample cushioning. Our side sleepers didn’t feel any noticeable buildup around their shoulders, hips, or knees.
Edge support is another area in which the DreamCloud Classic excelled. The reinforced perimeter coils allowed us to use the entire surface area without fear of falling off the bed. Motion isolation and temperature regulation fall somewhere in the middle. We wouldn’t recommend it for restless couples, nor would we suggest it for sleepers prone to severe overheating.
The Helix Midnight Luxe is a 13.5-inch hybrid with three foam comfort layers, a bed of wrapped coils, and a plush pillow top wrapped in a breathable Tencel cover.
Helix designed this mattress especially for side sleepers, and we think it hits the mark. It delivers what our testers called a ‘cloud-like comfort’ along the hips, knees, and shoulders. We also found it comfortable for back sleeping, particularly with the optional ErgoAlign zoned foam, which supplements the reinforced lumbar zone coils. Again, stomach sleepers should steer clear.
Like the DreamCloud, the Midnight Luxe also has stronger coils lining the perimeter, for steadiness from edge-to-edge. It doesn’t hold a lot of heat, either, but you can turn it into a proper cooling mattress by adding a GlacioTex cover and a CoolForce layer made from graphite ribbons.
Per our objective tests and real-world experience, the Midnight Luxe is adept at muffling heavy movements, but it isn’t as capable at limiting motion transfer from prolonged restlessness. Keep this in mind if you share a bed with a fidgety partner or an enthusiastic pet.
Which should you buy?
Buy the DreamCloud Classic Hybrid if…
✅ You have a smaller budget: The DreamCloud is roughly one-third the price of the Midnight Luxe — and we think it’s the best mattress for under $1,000.
✅ You want to take your time trying it out: DreamCloud offers a 365-night trial. That’ll allow you to test the bed through all seasons and a multitude of circumstances.
✅ You’re in no rush to buy a new bed: Prices don’t fluctuate much, if at all, for the DreamCloud Classic. You can push your purchase back and still expect to pay the same sale price.
Buy the Helix Midnight Luxe if…
✅ You have aches and pains: The dedicated lumbar support and cushy pillow top make the Helix Midnight Luxe one of the best mattresses for back pain we’ve ever tried.
✅ You’re a combi (side/back) sleeper: We found the Helix Midnight Luxe just as comfortable on our backs as we did on our sides. This was doubly true once we added the optional ErgoAlign layer.
✅ You need a new mattress ASAP: You’ll always be able to score a discount at Helix, but for the best prices, we recommend you shop this weekend. We likely won’t see another 27% off sale until the 4th of July.
