After revealing the first gameplay trailer for Persona 4: Revival at the June 2026 Xbox Games Showcase, Atlus decided to drop a bombshell announcement that Persona fans have been waiting for a decade since Persona 5 released on the PlayStation 3 in 2016.
Persona 6 is finally in development, as confirmed by a new teaser trailer released by Atlus during the show that reveals the game will be released on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Game Pass with Xbox Play Anywhere support, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam.
It’s also now available for wishlisting on Xbox platforms.
Windows Central’s take
Other than that, we know little about Persona 6 from this teaser other than that it will likely be the darkest entry in the series to date.
It’s a mysterious and grim trailer filled with all kinds of nightmarish imagery that suggests this game plans to explore the series’ general theme of self-discovery and embodying ‘personas’ to take on the world to its horrifying extremes.
Either way, I’m so happy to finally see a new mainline Persona game being made after dealing with Persona 5 spin-offs for years.
No offense to Persona 5: Royal, as it’s one of my favorite Xbox JRPGs, but it’s high time we leave the Phantom Thieves behind and explore a new setting with original characters to scream out “PERSONA” while balancing school life with dungeon crawling and turn-based battles against shadows.
