Streaming platforms provide instant access to huge audio collections and are a few clicks away in any browser. However, ensuring their content can be accessed on demand without too much buffering time often results in the streamed audio being compressed to a fairly low quality. More often than not, premium plans provide high-quality audio, but many platforms are still using lossy compression to find a balance between sound quality and transmission speed.
Having that in mind, SpotiFLAC provides a simple, open-source tool that can download tracks from Spotify, Amazon Music, Qobuz, Tidal and MusicBrainz in true lossless format (FLAC). In other words, with the help of this application, you can create a locally stored audio collection of high-quality tracks to enjoy anywhere, anytime, without buffering or quality loss.
Download content from multiple streaming platforms in FLAC format
It is worth mentioning from the start that there is no need to login to your account or have an active subscription to use SpotiFLAC, as the data is downloaded through reverse engineering. All you need is a working Internet connection and patience for the content to be saved on your computer, but also FFmpeg and FFprobe (if not detected, they are downloaded instantly upon application launch).
The black-themed interface only features an editable field where you need to paste the link of the album or the song. During testing, I pasted a link of an album and waited for SpotiFLAC to grab the metadata information from Spotify. With a click of a button, I was able to start downloading all the tracks in the album, but that is not all. SpotiFLAC also allows downloading lyrics and separate covers, if any, allowing you to build up a truly documented local track collection.
Automatic renaming and custom folder structure for easier track organizing
The download speed was acceptable; I had to just wait a few seconds between tracks. All the downloaded content is stored in the application’s history, along with information about the fetched tracks, album data, playlists, and artists.
To organize tracks more efficiently, SpotiFLAC can create a custom folder structure and rename tracks automatically.
Download content in lossless FLAC format with this open-source tool
SpotiFLAC uses the APIs of supported streaming services and downloads audio tracks at the highest available quality, saving them in true lossless FLAC format. With automatic renaming options and tools to create custom folder structures, it allows you to expand the local audio collection and enjoy listening to high-quality tracks.
