You may be wondering – how many Lava phones are there with the Unisoc 9863A chipset (28nm), a 6.75” 720p+ display, a 5,000mAh battery, a 13MP main camera and a 5MP selfie camera? The answer to this (slightly odd) question is at least 5. Wait, make that at least 6.
The new – well, “new” – Lava Smart 4 Plus is an Android 15 Go Edition phone that offers 4G-only connectivity on a tight budget. It only costs ₹10,000 ($106 / €93).
The Go Edition limitation comes from the small amount of RAM (4GB LPDDR4X) and built-in storage (64GB). The good news is that the phone has a 2+1 hybrid card slot for two SIMs and a microSD card up to 256GB.

The front houses a 6.75” LCD with 720 x 1,612px resolution (20:9 aspect ratio) and a refresh rate of 90Hz. The phone has a relatively low brightness of 450 nits. As mentioned previously, there is a 5MP selfie camera notched into the display.
The rear camera is a 13MP module and it appears to have a depth sensor next to it. The fingerprint reader is mounted on the side.
The Lava Smart 4 Plus has a 5,000mAh battery that charges at only 10W over USB-C. On the up side, the phone has a 3.5mm headphone jack with FM radio.
The phone is available through brick and mortar stores in India and comes in Nilgiri Blue and Himalayan Silver. There is a 1-year warranty, plus financing available.
