Junkosha, pioneers of sophisticated fluoropolymer application technologies across medical device and microwave interconnect sectors, has named Thintronics as the Microwave/Millimeter wave category winner of the third Junkosha Technology Innovator of the Year Award. From among the six shortlisted finalists, the California-based electronic materials startup was determined by a panel of judges as deserving of recognition for its innovative work in the delivery of products used within Microwave/Millimeter Wave technologies. The company supplies high performance insulators for emerging AI data center, networking and RF/millimeter wave applications.
Thintronics have developed a suite of isotropic, skew-free, low loss, low-Dk dielectric materials designed to function as next-generation insulation layers across the interconnect stack. These materials are engineered to reduce dielectric loss, suppress signal degradation and improve power efficiency in high frequency data channels where conventional polymers and laminates are increasingly hitting performance ceilings. In practice, this dielectric technology acts as a high performance electrical insulation layer embedded across boards, packages and semiconductor interconnect structures. By reducing signal loss and energy use, Thintronics’ materials aim to address one of the biggest sources of power consumption in modern AI and large-scale data centers.
“Thintronics is honored to receive this recognition from Junkosha,” says Tristan O. El Bouayadi, Chief Technology Officer of Thintronics. “This Award reflects Junkosha’s commitment to advancing leading-edge technologies, and we are grateful to be recognized as a winner in the RF/Millimeter-Wave category. Our team has been working to commercialize the lowest-loss PFAS-free dielectrics for Advanced Packaging, serving the frontier of emerging wired and wireless infrastructure. This Award brings valuable visibility to a foundational component in the electronics of tomorrow.”
The Junkosha Technology Innovator of the Year Award is an international program designed to showcase the achievements of pioneering work in the microwave/milimeter wave and interventional medical procedures sectors. This year’s Awards have seen an expanded amount of interest from entrants all over the globe, with a 30 percent increase in submissions, reflecting the increased significance technology innovators are placing on these Awards. A year long process, shortlisted candidates were invited to be interviewed by a panel of highly respected judges chosen for their industry credentials with Thintronics selected as the best in the microwave/milimeter wave category.
Joe Rowan, Chairperson of the Award, concludes: “The judging panel was impressed by Tristan and his company’s work developing next-generation dielectric materials, the implications of which extend across Junkosha’s business sectors in semiconductor manufacturing and microwave interconnects. This Award recognizes innovators whose technologies have the potential to make a meaningful impact on both industry and society. As demand for AI infrastructure and data processing continues to grow, Thintronics’ approach demonstrates the kind of next-generation innovators that this Award was created to enable.”
