everything RF @ IMS 2026: Mtron Demonstrates eVibe Vibration-Compensation through PLL-Integrated OCXO

At IMS 2026, everything RF met Paul Dechen, Senior Vice President at Mtron, and Durga Devneni, Director of Sales at Mtron. At their booth, the company showcased its expanding portfolio of RF and timing solutions, highlighting its evolution from component-level products to integrated RF subsystems and introducing its proprietary eVibe technology for vibration compensation in precision oscillator applications.

A major focus of the presentation was Mtron’s proprietary e-Vibe® technology, which was developed to electronically compensate for the effects of vibration on precision oscillator performance. Devneni explained that conventional approaches typically use mechanical isolation to reduce vibration sensitivity, but such methods can introduce low-frequency resonances, increase size and weight, and create long-term wear and reliability concerns. The eVibe approach instead uses electronic compensation techniques to mitigate vibration-induced effects while maintaining low phase-noise performance.

The live demonstration featured a PLL-integrated OCXO incorporating eVibe technology. The system combines a precision oscillator, vibration-compensation circuitry, and a phase-locked loop (PLL) in a single solution. Operating at 100 MHz and locked to a 10 MHz reference, the demonstrated platform delivers industry-leading phase-noise performance with a noise floor approaching -188 dBc/Hz. Mtron noted that the design offers adjustable loop bandwidths to meet specific customer requirements and can be configured for frequencies including 100 MHz, 125 MHz, and 160 MHz. The company also revealed plans to extend the technology into L-band, S-band, and X-band solutions in the coming quarters, further expanding its RF solutions portfolio.

During the demonstration, Dechen explained Mtron’s RF solutions journey, which began with the development of a Ku-band front-end receiver and has since expanded into a broad range of integrated RF products. Devneni highlighted the company’s current portfolio, which includes PLL-integrated OCXOs (Oven-Controlled Crystal Oscillators), master reference oscillators, L-band solutions, S-band and C-band RF front ends, and integrated subsystems combining SSPAs (Solid-State Power Amplifiers) and LNAs (Low-Noise Amplifiers) with switching and user-interface capabilities. These solutions are designed to provide customers with higher levels of RF integration while reducing system complexity.
