If you have the Galaxy Watch8, then this may look familiar. The new Galaxy Watch9 is here, and it looks and feels about the same.
It comes in a simple box with a USB-C magnetic charger and a band. You can get the watch in either 40mm or 44mm, and it will be on sale on August 7 in a few colors – Cream and Graphite (40mm), Graphite and Silver (44mm). Prices are €400 and €490, respectively.
There isn’t much in terms of upgrades, but you do get the new Snapdragon Wear Elite SoC, which should bring an overall smoother experience – faster app launches, better AI performance, and improved battery efficiency.
That last bit ties in nicely with the bigger batteries on both models. The 40mm model’s battery is 390mAh (up from 325mAh on the Watch8), The 44mm has a 445mAh battery – only 10mAh more than the Watch8.
What’s unchanged is the aluminum casing, the sapphire crystal top over the AMOLED display, as well as the build, featuring an IP68 and 5 ATM rating, and some MIL-STD-810H protection.
There’s no rotating bezel here, nor a rotating crown. The Galaxy Watch9 isn’t particularly colorful, nor does it bring major improvements from the Watch8, so if you own the older model, perhaps you should keep it for another year.
