Furuno Introduces Compact GNSS Timing Receiver for High-Precision Time Synchronization

Furuno to launch of its RCB-100 GNSS timing receiver, scheduled for November 2026. By combining a standard RCB form factor with nanosecond-level GNSS timing accuracy, the new receiver is designed to accelerate the adoption of high-precision time synchronization in low-volume equipment, enabling manufacturers to integrate carrier-grade GNSS performance without the complexity of dedicated RF and PCB design.

As industries such as telecommunications, broadcasting, electric power, and finance increasingly depend on precise time synchronization, the demand for GNSS receivers offering high accuracy and strong interference resilience continues to grow. Furuno has established a strong presence in these markets through its industry-leading GT-100 GNSS receiver module, which has been widely adopted in telecommunications infrastructure and base station applications.

Despite the proven performance of the GT-100, integrating carrier-grade GNSS technology into new equipment has traditionally required significant engineering effort. Manufacturers have often needed dedicated RF circuit design, PCB mounting through soldering and reflow processes, and customized antenna system design. These implementation requirements have created a barrier to adoption, particularly for low-volume equipment where dedicated hardware development is difficult to justify.

The RCB-100 has been developed to overcome these challenges by delivering the same GNSS time synchronization capabilities established through the GT-100 in a format that requires minimal implementation work. The receiver offers highly accurate synchronization suitable for telecommunications infrastructure while maintaining proven resilience against GNSS interference, including jamming and spoofing. It also benefits from Furuno’s extensive track record in real-world base station and telecommunications deployments.

A key advantage of the RCB-100 is its standard RCB form factor, which eliminates the need for dedicated RF design and PCB mounting. The receiver can be installed using only screws and a compatible mating connector, while its standard SMB antenna connector significantly reduces RF line design complexity. This simplified integration enables manufacturers to incorporate carrier-grade time synchronization into low-volume equipment and applications where a dedicated GNSS design would not be practical.

The receiver is intended for a broad range of applications requiring highly accurate time synchronization. These include telecommunications base stations, time servers, data center systems, financial trading systems, power grid infrastructure, and broadcasting and telecommunications equipment, where reliable timing is essential for system performance and operational continuity.
