WinScript – Download – Softpedia

It is a well-known fact that Windows comes with its own preinstalled software and default configuration. Its latest iterations have been the subject of controversy mostly due to telemetry features and privacy-related functions, so it was only natural for developers to create applications that allow the customization of the default Windows experience.

One example is WinScript, a simple and open-source application that allows not just tweaking of the operating system, but also system cleanup and other maintenance operations that are recommended to be carried out periodically.

Generate a script to include all your changes

WinScript borrows the looks and feel of the Settings app, going for the same minimalistic and clean approach we are accustomed to in Windows 11.
All the available tools and customization options are displayed in the left-side panel, while the details are shown to the right.

How does it work? Well, you go through all these settings and options to toggle the ones you want enabled. WinScript modifies the output script to reflect your changes and include all the actions you selected. At the end, executing the script will apply the changes. Since some of the actions modify the default behavior in Windows, note that WinScript should be launched with system administrator rights.

System cleanup and disabling telemetry

With WinScript, it is possible to initiate a system cleanup to remove temporary and unnecessary files to free up storage space. You can configure it to run disk cleanup and clean temporary files or empty the Recycle Bin. Other actions allow you to check the system’s integrity, clear the browser history, run ‘ipconfig’ commands to reset the network IP address or activate Windows.

Getting rid of unnecessary files is also one of the application’s strong points, as it can help you debloat Windows by uninstalling pre-installed apps and features, disabling consumer features and even the disputed Recall function. Edge, Copilot, Widgets, OneDrive and even the MS Store can be removed as well.

There are a few privacy and telemetry-related features that are worth noting. WinScript can limit app access to your data and system and disable functions such as Wifi Sense or Cloud Sync. Preventing data collection for both the OS and third-party apps and blocking notifications is also an option.

The simplest and fastest way to customize your Windows

WinScript’s array of features does not end at the ones listed above. It also brings to the table gaming-related settings, performance tweaks and even a way for you to discover new apps and utilities that might come in handy.

Overall, the application is meant to offer you more control and enhance the user experience in Windows, all with the execution of a simple, automatically generated script.
