It’s not uncommon to feel that the base functionality of your clipboard is somehow limiting you in a way. After all, if you only use the core functionality, where you copy and paste pieces of text over and over, it can indeed get very repetitive.
Dedicated clipboard managers exist for this very reason, and SkyeClip is a good example. It can help you keep track of every copy and paste event, look back at your history to recall something you copied hours ago, and keep tabs on anything important for a smoother workflow.
An overview of your clipboard
The software essentially provides the means for users to work with their clipboard more effectively, specifically as you no longer need to go back and forth with copying text or files. A core feature to help with this is the Clip Explorer view, which can be brought into focus via a customizable hotkey.
Through it, you’ll be able to quickly see any past entries and reuse them whenever necessary. As the program logs those copied elements within a small database, you also get access to a Search bar to quickly find what you’re looking for. Alternatively, you can also use the app tray icon to access some of your recently copied elements.
There’s also a Purge feature to automatically delete old or otherwise unused clipboard entries. That said, deleting entries altogether was rather buggy during my testing, as anything I deleted would reappear the next time I booted the app, making it very inconsistent.
Keep tabs on anything of note
Noteworthy are also the Favorite and Scratch Pad features, each of which complements overall functionality. The former lets you recall important entries faster, while the latter functions as a blank page you can jot down anything you might need for later. You can also add individual entries to the Scratch Pad from the Clip Explorer view. I would have also liked to be able to select items in bulk, however.
While copied files are also retained within the Clipboard Explorer menu, distinguishing them is difficult as the program doesn’t provide any previews. With that in mind, I’d opt to use for text entries only.
Despite some hiccups, SkyeClip is a solid piece of software that can help you manage your clipboard more easily. The utility is small, lightweight, and uncomplicated to use, ultimately making for an interesting software proposition.
