Legacy formats are quite tricky to get around, particularly as modern software doesn’t usually account for those file types. In such situations, users have to instead rely on a third-party conversion tool to translate their data into a compatible format. Legacy File Converter, much like its name would suggest, is equipped with the necessary tools to take care of that.
The software essentially casts a wide net in terms of legacy formats, providing users with support for a wide variety of deprecated formats. Some highlights include support for WordPerfect, Lotus-1-2-3, and Quattro Pro, but the utility can also convert modern office and media formats for convenience.
A catch-all for legacy file types
As mentioned before, the program tackles conversion for many different legacy file types, all of which are automatically recognized and converted as needed. The only thing you need to do is specify the right folder. Optionally, you can also check out the Output Plan to convert only the files that you need at the moment.
Given that support is for many different formats, the software integrates a Smart mode, whereby certain formats are converted according to their type. For instance, legacy spreadsheets will convert to .XLSX, documents to .DOCX, images to .JPEG, and so on. You can also just skip this and convert everything into PDF or HTML depending on your workflow.
Original data is preserved accordingly
During my testing, the program was able to convert Lotus 1-2-3 and WordPerfect files just fine. Although, I should mention that I had some .123 files that the software wouldn’t support, which the dedicated Lotus 1-2-3 Converter, from the same developer, handled without issues.
Images also were converted without problems, so the program can prove quite viable if you’ve got an image library full of .HEIC/HEIF files from your phone and are looking to convert them all for compatibility purposes.
