The Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra will have new hardware on the front, but that will not be readily apparent. Ice Universe shared images of S27 Ultra screen protectors and says that they are nearly identical to, perhaps even interchangeable with, S26 Ultra screen protectors. Ice writes that “this may be the smallest change in front display design between two consecutive Ultra flagships in Samsung’s history.”
Based on reports so far, the new Ultra (along with the S27 Pro) will feature a next-generation M16 OLED display. This tech already made its debut with the iQOO 16 – its display advertises 10,000 nits peak local brightness and 2,800 nits peak global brightness. M16 will also bring better power efficiency (consuming up to 30% less power) and improved color accuracy.
Back in July, we also heard that the Galaxy S27 Ultra and S27 Pro will have a new selfie camera, a 16MP module that will replace the 12MP selfie that Samsung is currently using. This was reiterated last month.

So, new panel, new selfie camera, but the same overall size and shape for the display. This means another year of having a 6.9” 1,440 x 3,120px display like on the S26 Ultra and S25 Ultra (the S24 Ultra display was a tad smaller at 6.8”). It will have Privacy Display, of course. The bezels should remain the same too.
Perhaps, this is not too surprising, given that the Galaxy S27 Ultra will be nearly the same size as the S26 Ultra. There will be a bigger battery inside, but this is due to improvements in energy density. The phone will be a bit heavier, though, going from 214g to 215g. Anyway, it seems that Samsung has focused its attention on the new camera island on the back and intends to keep the rest of the design mostly unchanged.
